Robot Preparation

Martin Zanolli, Kamila Jujka

Setting up the robot was a learning experience for both, Martin and I. We started the task by setting up templates which would correspond to the robots foot dimensions. These templates were traced onto quarter inch steel plates, in preparation for drilling. Using a stationary drill press at the lowest speed possible. We drilled four diagonal 1/2 inch holes, accompanied by two 1/4  inch holes. This was done to four separate plates to be applied to two separate robot arms. Once the plate drilling was completed, the metal cart upon which the robot would be placed, was marked and drilled according to the plates. This allowed for the robot to be placed upon the steel plate, attached to the cart and reinforced from both sides. Allowing for a sturdy placement of the robot arm to the metal cart. Lastly we cut a separate 12 inch by 18 inch, inch thick MDF board to place the battery upon. This was placed on the bottom portion of the cart. As a result the robot placed upon the cart had a full surface are to work upon on the cart.
